gmail-triage-pro – Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
This privacy policy explains how gmail-triage-pro (the “App”), a desktop application published by Emmanuel Bernard (“I”, “me”), accesses, uses, stores and shares your data when you connect it to your Google account.
Who is responsible
The App is published by Emmanuel Bernard, an individual based in France. For any question about this policy or your data, write to contact@mel.emmanuelbernard.com.
Data the App accesses
When you sign in with Google, you choose which permissions to grant. Depending on those permissions and the features you use, the App may access:
- Gmail: email messages, headers, labels and threads, to help you triage your inbox (classify, summarize, label, archive, prepare drafts).
- Google Calendar: your events and availability, to give context when triaging emails and, when you ask it to, to create or update events.
- Google Drive, Docs and Sheets: files you work with, to give context when triaging emails and, when you ask it to, to read or write documents and spreadsheets.
- Basic profile information: your email address and name, to identify the connected account in the App.
The App only requests the permissions it needs for its features.
How the App uses your data
Your Google data is used only to provide the App’s user-facing features: triaging, summarizing and organizing your email, and the related actions you request on your calendar and documents.
Your Google data is not used to:
- serve advertising,
- build user profiles for any purpose other than the features you use,
- train or improve generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models,
- be sold, rented or transferred to data brokers or information resellers.
Where your data is processed and stored
The App runs on your computer. There is no server operated by me that receives or stores your Google data.
- OAuth tokens that let the App access your Google account are stored locally on your device.
- Your Google data is fetched directly from Google to your device. Any local cache or settings stay on your device.
- I do not have access to your emails, calendar, files or tokens.
Sharing with a third-party AI provider
To triage and summarize your content, the App sends relevant parts of your Google data (for example the content of an email, or event and document details) directly from your device to the large language model (LLM) provider configured in the App, through its API.
- Only the data needed for the requested task is sent.
- The data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- The LLM provider processes this data to return a result to the App. Under the API terms the App relies on, the provider does not use this data to train its models.
- The provider’s handling of the data is also governed by its own privacy policy and terms.
Apart from this, your Google data is not shared with anyone, unless required by law or with your explicit consent.
Compliance with Google API Services User Data Policy
gmail-triage-pro’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In particular, no human reads your Google data, unless you give explicit consent for specific content (for example to investigate a bug you report), it is necessary for security purposes or to comply with applicable law.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data stays on your device (apart from the requests sent to the LLM provider), you are in control:
- Disconnect your Google account from the App, or uninstall the App, to delete the locally stored tokens and data.
- Revoke access at any time from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Data sent to the LLM provider is retained according to that provider’s API data retention policy.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and French law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase and port your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Since I do not hold your data, most of these rights are exercised directly in the App or in your Google account. For any request, contact me at the address above. You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
Children
The App is not intended for children under 16.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision. Significant changes will be announced in the App or on this page.
